Foam Carpet Underlay
Foam underlay is the most popular type in the UK, offering high density for superior carpet support. It enhances comfort, extends carpet lifespan, and provides thermal insulation. Available in thicknesses from 7mm to 12mm, it suits residential and commercial spaces. Higher density options like Heavenly Gold Label ensure durability in high-traffic areas while reducing noise underfoot.
Rubber Underlay
Rubber underlay provides firm support for carpets, ideal for heavy foot traffic areas. It includes sponge and dense rubber variants, graded by weight or thickness. Products like Tredaire Colours Red offer resilience and sound absorption, making them suitable for both domestic and contract installations while maintaining long-term performance.
Felt Underlay
Felt underlay, made from recycled wool or synthetic fibres, combines durability with environmental benefits. It offers moderate support and thermal insulation, ideal for eco-conscious consumers. Brands like Knightsbridge Supreme provide a balance of comfort and sustainability, reducing landfill waste through repurposed materials.
Underfloor Heating Underlay
Specially designed underlays like Duralay Heatflow ensure efficient heat transfer for underfloor systems. They maintain low thermal resistance (tog values) while providing necessary support. These underlays prevent heat loss, ensuring energy efficiency without compromising comfort or carpet longevity in heated environments.
Sound Reducing Underlay
Sound-reducing underlays such as Silenzia Ultra Quiet minimize noise transmission between floors. They combine high-density foam or rubber layers to absorb impact sounds, enhancing acoustic comfort in multi-story buildings. These underlays are ideal for residential and commercial spaces requiring quieter environments without sacrificing underfoot comfort.
